Hailing from San Francisco, The New Up actively engage with the spirit of Radiohead, Pavement and TV on the Radio, all bands that pump hot blood into modern chrome forms, dissecting and defusing today's too-much-information onslaught with hard-edged, hip shakin' fury. The Chicago Reader described the band as "trippy new wave" with songs that "move with a seething, aggressive kind of dream logic," and PopMatters called them "funky and frightening, intimate and anthemic, switched-on in every lil' way." The full culmination of The New Up's sound is revealed on their second studio album, Palace of Industrial Hope, released on March 27, 2007. Front and center is ES Pitcher's intoxicatingly liquid voice, which carries echoes of the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde and vintage Siouxsie and The Banshees. Featuring guitarist Noah Reid, flautist Jason "Hawk" West, drummer Jack McFadden and bassist Dain Dizazzo, The New Up combines polished studio chops, hyper-intelligent compositions, and inspired musicianship in their riveting live performances.

James Christopher [drum 'n' bass] is co-founder of San Francisco's underground DJ and artist collective Lowpro Lounge. Once the longtime resident DJ at Atlanta's D&B weekly "Sessions" back in the late '90s, Chris brings an energy closer to a rock show than a DJ set, playing a mix of exclusive tracks ranging from liquid funk to ragga jungle. He has performed live with Sound Tribe Sector 9, DJ Logic and Audio Angel, and is featured on Lowpro Lounge's debut album Project Code Name, due for release in 2007, which includes remixes of Hamsa Lila, STS9, Abstract Rude and more.

Lowpro Lounge co-founder J.Tonal [downtempo/breaks/hip-hop] is a live-PA maestro whose sets veer from downtempo to glitch to funk with the twist of a knob. His self-produced, self-distributed mixtapes have long been a hot commodity in the San Francisco electronic community. As resident bad boy and live-PA crunkologist, J.Tonal brings it hard with a dirty, beat driven mix featuring melodic influences ranging from the classic to the experimental. He has performed and produced shows at such venues as the Nuyorican in NYC, the Middle East in Boston, and the Royal Oak Ballroom in Detroit, and played with such notable musicians as DJ Shadow, Tino Corps. and Goa Gil.

Citizen Ten [downtempo/hip-hop/psychedelic] is a rare breed. Working as a DJ-producer, his style of hard downtempo music is some of the illest you'll experience. He spins rare groove mixes, classic breaks sets and hip-hop. Also know as the galactic hip-hop producer Mr. Smith, his beats are loved throughout the solar system.

Since landing in San Francisco in 2002, Bender has spent long hours tucked away in the lab developing his skills as both a DJ and producer. He won two consecutive Test Press Thursdays, held monthly in SF by Pyramind Music School, which landed him a Digital Compilation recording agreement. His "Weak In The Knees," a dirty, cyber-anelectro-space-funk-rager, was released as part the event's winners compilation in February of 2007. Expect the unexpected on the dancefloor as Bender drops dirty, thick, funk-rocking ughh-ness while breakbeats and house lay the canvas for spacy-electro-bass and melodies.

Mochipet [club/emo/grindcore] got his start in music at the age of 15 when the urge of metal guitar overtook him. Rocking through a set of 2" speakers and a cheap stiletto six-string, he conjured up the forces that began his music adventure. Mochipet's music has been released on numerous record labels including Tigerbeat6 and his own Daly City Records. He has toured throughout America and Europe in a wide variety of underground and main stage venues, on line-ups with artists such as Coldcut, Felix Da Housecat, M.I.A, Kid606, Forest Green and many more. Mochipet's music has been featured in The Village Voice, SF Bay Guardian, SF Weekly, URB and XLR8R Magazines, and on KUSF, KFJC, KZSU, KCRW and John Peel's BBC Radio.

*69
Dale Fanning and Dave Pellicciaro
*69 is a keys/drums duo that plays scrappy, high-energy, beat-driven music. Spanning deep roots and modern tastes, Dave Pellicciaro and Dale Fanning use new and vintage instruments to forge a kinetic and visceral sound.

Mighty Dave Pellicciaro is a life-long touring and recording musician whose name has become congruous with his powerhouse B3 style, keyboard chops, versatility and copious energy. Holding a Grammy for his work on Beauoseil's L'Amour Ou L Folie, Dave is a respected player who has performed with the likes of Critters Buggin, Widespread Panic, Mike Clark, Taj Mahal, Living Daylights, MOFRO, Gov't Mule, Galactic, Zero, Eric McFadden and Senegal's Boubacar Diabete. In addition to running the award-winning Lucky Devil Sound studio, he is recognized as a creative band leader and producer, and a fine working musician by fans and musicians alike.

With a style steeped in African rumba and knowledge spanning the funky to the avant-garde, drummer Dale Fanning is an established presence in jazz, funk and world music. Called "a drummer to watch closely" by Modern Drummer Magazine, Dale has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe with Living Daylights, an avant-garde jazz trio that recorded with guitarist Bill Frisell, twice cracked the CMJ top ten, and received four star reviews in Downbeat and Billboard Magazines. This versatile drummer has also collaborated with such artists as legendary keyboardist Bernie Worrell (P-Funk, Talking Heads), Hammond organ greats Reuben Wilson and Jimmy McGriff, bassist Dave Schools of Widespread Panic, and the Gypsy Kings.

Kaia Jacobi was first drawn to the visual arts as a young child when she discovered the kaleidoscope, utterly thrilled by the many varieties of effects she could create with such a magical device. As she grew older, her interests transformed and guided her in the direction of event production, allowing her to become absorbed in the vast array of design both visual and spatial. Today Kaia does projection for live performances and special events (including Lowpro Lounge, Anon Salon and Sound Tribe Sector 9) and seeks to expand her opportunities in the realms of robotic visual-interface installations.

Leading the Pleasure Pad ambiance crew is Joel Barber, a Portland-based artist and designer whose vibrant paintings and multi-media pieces are currently exhibited in San Francisco's DaDa SF Studio, and have been featured in Madrone Lounge and Canvas Gallery. Also know as the DJ half of electronica duo Surrounded By Ninjas, Joel created the striking cover art for The New Up's Palace of Industrial Hope and for his band's two releases, Dual Processor and Realtime Modify. He'll design many of The GlassEye Ball installations and perform live painting at the event.

A visionary artist fresh on the scene, Eagle recently started exploring live painting, a departure from more traditional oil painting techniques he's been practicing for years. His technique of encompassing no premeditated design or intention before beginning falls into place beautifully within the music experience.
